Douglas Luiz spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa, now a move to Manchester United is his dream.
The last year or so hasn’t been great for the Brazilian. His loan at Nottingham Forest never really worked out, but he still managed to get a temporary return to Villa Park.
He initially played regularly for Unai Emery’s side but by the end of the season, his prominence reduced. Sport Witness covered how this was causing fears at Juventus that the midfielder could be ‘unsellable’, due to two failed loans in England.
The player is now back in Turin and has featured in pre-season friendlies for Luciano Spalletti’s side. He is still likely to leave and would love a move to Manchester United.
Swap deal floated
TuttoSport report clubs in Brazil have moved for Douglas Luiz but the player wants to return to England. A move back to his home country is a last resort for the midfielder.
‘His dream is to join Manchester United’, state TuttoSport. He is keen to play a part in taking the Old Trafford club back to the lofty heights of their past.
The good relationship between the clubs is also mentioned. Despite management changes, Juve and Manchester United have long been close and this leads to TuttoSport talking about a swap deal.
This would involve Joshua Zirkzee, who has been offered to the Bianconeri already.
The two players have the same agent, Kia Joorabchian, which encourages the idea further.
Our take: Move convenient for Juve
Even if Manchester United need another midfielder, Douglas Luiz might not be the man. His stock has dropped significantly, with muscle injuries having impacted his playing styl. .
Besides, Juve are desperate to find a solution for him. Getting a player in exchange will be very convenient for them, especially since Manchester United would want to let Zirkzee go on their own terms.
Michael Carrick’s side should likely explore other options.
