Manchester United are set to reap just £6 million from the sale of highly regarded left back, Harry Amass. The Athletic’s Laurie Whitwell reported that, having enjoyed several loan moves throughout his young career, United are now looking at a permanent transfer for Amass.
Several Championship clubs have made approaches for the England under-19 international, with discussions ongoing.
This comes in the same week that Manchester United have increased their interest in Newcastle and England left back, Lewis Hall.

Left Back Decisions to be Made at Old Trafford
Harry Amass Set for Exit Door as Interest in Lewis Hall Increases
Harry Amass, like Alvaro Carreras before him, is a highly regarded left-back, from United’s academy. With that being said, he also looks, like Carreras to be prematurely leaving Manchester before getting a chance to prove his worth.
Amass spent the first half of last season on loan at a struggling Sheffield Wednesday side, performing well and winning consecutive play of the month awards. After being recalled by United, he joined Norwich City but an injury hindered his time with The Canaries.

The exit rumours are swirling despite a strong showing against Rosenborg in a pre-season friendly. He scored a goal and assisted Jacob Devaney after coming on at half time.
Laurie Whitwell also reported that, should Manchester United pursue a left back, it would be Newcastle’s Lewis Hall who would be most likely their main target. Speaking on The Athletic’s Talk of the Devil’s podcast, Andy Mitten stated that United see Hall as Luke Shaw’s long term successor. The England international would cost somewhere in the region of £60 million and is of interest from a number of Premier League clubs.
Left Back Options at Old Trafford
United have several options at left back should the Lewis Hall deal not go through. Luke Shaw played a record number of games in a season last season and will likely be Michael Carrick’s preferred choice this season.

Patrick Dorgu was signed as a left-back, however, his best performances were off the left wing last season. An injury halted his strong form in December, and it’s unclear where Carrick will prefer to play him.
Paraguayan left-back Diego Leon signed last summer with a lot of potential, however, is yet to see any first team action. At 19 and having played regularly for the youth teams, there’s a chance that he could see some first team action this season. With that being said, with Harry Amass not being given the chance to shine at Old Trafford, there’s a good chance that we don’t see Leon in the first team.
