Manchester United’s interest in Orlando Gill has now been acknowledged by the goalkeeper’s own representative, who says transfer negotiations are underway as the San Lorenzo player edges closer to a move.
Gill has been linked with Old Trafford throughout the summer, and his agent has now offered the clearest indication yet that discussions over his future are progressing.
Agent confirms Man United enquiries
Speaking toDSports Radio, Mario Jara confirmed Manchester United have already made enquiries for the Paraguay international.
“We’ve had conversations with clubs in England, as well as Germany. There were enquiries from Manchester United,” he said.
Jara stopped short of identifying the other clubs involved, but made it clear interest in Gill extends beyond a single team.
The representative also explained the process has moved beyond initial interest.
“We’ve only had two concrete offers. We’re in the middle of negotiations,” Jara revealed.
We know who made one of the bids at least. Olympiacos reportedly was the first club to have submitted a formal offer, although it was rejected.
San Lorenzo are reported to be seeking around €10m (£8.5m) to sanction a sale this summer, despite Gill’s contract including a €20m (£17m) release clause.
Without naming the club behind the second bid, Mario Jara suggested a transfer is now edging closer.
Negotiations already underway
“The sale is close. This is the right time. We have to handle it very carefully because there are many things involved. It’s the ideal moment for him to take the next step.”
Jara added that all parties are keen to bring the process to a conclusion.
“We’re trying to get it done as quickly as possible for everyone’s benefit. It would also be very important for San Lorenzo.”
While Manchester United are the only club mentioned by Jara, Ipswich Town and Aston Villa have also been credited with interest in recent weeks.
Jara’s comments also suggest the race extends beyond Old Trafford, with talks continuing with clubs from both England and Germany.
