Twin targets: Gonzalo Garcia and Cesar Palacios
Standard Sport understands that Fulham are in negotiations for Palacios, while they have reignited their interest in Garcia after initially being told the Spanish striker was not for sale.
Real Madrid’s no-sale stance on Garcia has softened since last week, when they informed Fulham they did not want to get rid of the 22-year-old.
Having briefly moved on to other targets, Fulham are now back at the negotiating table for Garcia and are also looking to secure a deal for his Madrid team-mate Palacios.
Alvaro Arbeloa, who was named Real Madrid interim manager until the end of last season following the departure of Xabi Alonso in January, is poised to raid his former club by swooping for Garcia and Palacios.

The 43-year-old worked with the pair extensively while manager of Real Madrid Castilla, the club’s youth team, and handed Garcia consistent first-team opportunities last season.

Garcia, who earned his first and to date only senior Spain cap while Arbeloa was Real Madrid boss, and Palacios are both said to be keen to play in the Premier League.
Palacios made his senior debut for Real Madrid last season, playing seven games in all competitions, including two appearances in the Champions League.
Garcia, meanwhile, broke into Real Madrid’s first team during last summer’s Club World Cup, scoring four goals in six appearances as Los Blancos reached the semi-finals.
He continued his fine form from the Club World Cup, making 39 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring eight goals and providing three assists.
