Manchester United summer transfer window has already delivered five new arrivals, but Michael Carrick’s squad rebuild remains unfinished with another midfielder and left-back still under consideration.
United have focused heavily on central midfield following Casemiro’s departure. Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans have arrived for a combined reported cost of £85million, while several players could leave before the window closes.

Manchester United transfer roundup: Five arrivals confirmed
Santos became the first signing of Carrick’s permanent tenure when United agreed a reported £50million deal with Chelsea.
The 22-year-old offers energy, ball progression and the ability to operate in different midfield roles. Tielemans followed from Aston Villa after United activated his reported £35million release clause.
Their arrivals provide Carrick with two experienced Premier League options. Santos can protect the defence or advance through midfield, while Tielemans offers passing quality and creativity around the penalty area.
United have also signed Karl Darlow on a free transfer. The former Leeds United goalkeeper provides senior cover and increases the uncertainty surrounding Altay Bayındır’s future.
Tynan Thompson joined from Tottenham Hotspur as a long-term attacking prospect. Goalkeeper Kit Margetson has also arrived after leaving Swansea City.

Another midfielder remains on Carrick’s list
United’s midfield business may not end with Santos and Tielemans.
Carrick wants another player who can cover ground and provide greater defensive protection. Eduardo Camavinga was approached, but the France international currently intends to remain with Real Madrid.
ReadManUtd reported that Camavinga wants to fight for his position under José Mourinho. United did not begin negotiations with Madrid after learning the player’s position.
Bournemouth’s Alex Scott, Roma midfielder Manu Koné and Fulham’s Sander Berge have also featured on the shortlist. United are assessing different profiles rather than concentrating on one advanced negotiation.
A left-back is another possible priority. Lewis Hall and Antonee Robinson have been monitored, although Newcastle United would demand a significant fee for Hall.
United’s interest in that position could become more important if Harry Amass leaves. The academy defender is available for around £6million following interest from several Championship clubs.
The Guardian reports that Carrick wants a third midfielder and is considering another left-back after strengthening the centre of his team.
Outgoings could decide United’s final moves
United must also reduce the number of players competing for limited first-team opportunities.
Joshua Zirkzee is attracting interest from Juventus, Roma and Como. United are not actively pushing the forward out, but suitable permanent proposals will be considered.
ReadManUtd reported that any Zirkzee departure could depend on Benjamin Sesko’s fitness. United may enter the striker market if the Netherlands international returns to Serie A.
Ollie Watkins has been monitored, while free agent Dusan Vlahovic represents another possible option. Neither pursuit has reached an advanced stage.
Marcus Rashford’s future also remains unresolved following his productive loan at Barcelona. United are prepared to sell, but the forward could begin the campaign under Carrick unless an acceptable proposal arrives.
Radek Vitek, Dan Gore and Toby Collyer are also available after being informed that regular senior football is unlikely. Amass could join them in leaving permanently.
United have completed the main part of their midfield rebuild. Their final business will depend on creating space, raising funds and identifying opportunities rather than making rushed additions.
