Light Blues are looking for a long term replacement in key area
Rangers transfer target James Overy is looking for a Manchester United escape route, as the 18-year old eyes a loan move to improve his game time.
The Red Devils are open to offers for the Aussie right back, who came through the ranks at boyhood club Perth Glory before his United switch. Rangers are looking for reinforcements at fullback after former captain James Tavernier ended his 11-year association with the club at the end of last season.
New Rangers boss Derek McInnes has already signed Ross McCrorie at right back from Bristol City, having previously worked with the Scotsman at Aberdeen, however he is now looking for more cover. Atalanta loanee Ben Godfrey can also be deployed in this area, along with Gers utility man Dujon Sterling.

United prodigy ‘looking’ for game time with Gers lurking
Prominent transfer journalist Alan Nixon reported via Patreon: “Manchester United’s young Australian starlet James Overy is looking for a loan move to her game time. Overy was left off the first team trip and is now hoping for a shot at regular action, possibly in the Championship.The Aussie under 20 cap can play right back or right wing and signed for United ahead of Everton two years ago.”
The defender headed to the other side of the world at the age of 16 and has subsequently signed his first ever professional contract at Old Trafford. He is yet to make his full United debut but continues to impress in the youth ranks. He grew up in Perth, Western Australia, but qualifies to play for Scotland through his mother. Earlier in his career, he featured for the Under-19s squad, but has since represented the Socceroos at other youth levels.

Rangers seek Tavernier replacement
Club icon Tavernier made 565 appearances and scored 144 goals for Rangers as his departure signified the end of an era in Govan. While McCrorie has been brought to start at full back this season, the club will have to think of the bigger picture to secure a young player who the baton could be passed to. However, Overy appears to favour a loan move. After leaving the club, the former skipper bid a heartwarming message to the fans. He told the club: “To the fans, my teammates and all the staff at the club. After a lot of thought, I've made the decision that this will be my final season at the club.
“This hasn't been an easy decision. This club has been a huge part of my life and my family's over the past 11 years. It's given me so much, both on and off the pitch and from the moment I arrived, I've always tried to give everything I had to represent it in the right way. To have had the honour of being made captain of this club since 2018 is something I will always be incredibly proud of. Leading this team out, wearing the armband and being trusted in that role has meant more to me than I can properly put into words.”
