Manchester United have expressed interest in San Lorenzo goalkeeper Orlando Gill.
Gill impressed for Paraguay at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He ranked first for saves and fifth for goals prevented at the tournament.
Mario Jara, the 26-year-old’s agent, has revealed United are one of the clubs interested in the San Lorenzo academy graduate.
“We’ve had conversations with clubs in England, as well as Germany. There were enquiries from Manchester United,” he told DSports Radio.
“The sale is close. This is the right time. We have to handle it very carefully because there are many things involved. It’s the ideal moment for him to take the next step. We’re trying to get it done as quickly as possible for everyone’s benefit.”
United unlikely to swoop for Gill
Gill impressed for San Lorenzo in the Argentine top flight before replicating that form at the World Cup.
The left-footed Paraguayan excels at making close-range saves, remains calm under pressure and is comfortable with the ball at his feet.
He currently ranks second for clean sheets, fourth for saves per game, and eighth for goals prevented in the Argentine Primera Division.
However, United are unlikely to pursue a deal for the San Lorenzo star, as they are well-stocked in the goalkeeping department.
Senne Lammens has established himself as the first choice following an outstanding debut campaign. The Belgian was named the Premier League Transfer of the Season.
Wales international Karl Darlow, who joined the Red Devils from Leeds United earlier this month, is expected to provide cover for Lammens.
Veteran goalkeeper Tom Heaton, who recently signed a new contract, is the third choice. The club believe he adds ‘leadership and professionalism’ to the squad.
United may have shown interest in Gill earlier in the summer, but eventually opted for Darlow, who is Premier League-proven.
