Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee has again been linked with a move back to Serie A. The forward joined in 2024 and has seemingly been linked with a move away ever since. He struggled to make himself a reliable option up front despite a handful of impressive goals for the Reds.

Zirkzee was signed by United from Bologna after a strong 2023-24 campaign in Italy. He scored in his first Premier League appearance against Fulham at Old Trafford, but has made just 19 starts in 56 appearances over two seasons since with five total goals in the PL. It seems unlikely for United to make a profit on the £36.5 million paid for his services, and even securing a permanent move elsewhere seems unlikely at the moment.

According to a report from The Athletic on Tuesday, Zirkzee was monitored by Ajax as well as Juventus, with the Italian club the more likely to make a deal. The Bianconeri reportedly prefer a loan deal with an option to make the transfer permanent while United would like to move the player on now.

The business has slowed down in the transfer market for Manchester United this month, and through two preseason fixtures Zirkzee has continued to feature in place of the injured Benjamin Sesko.
