Roberto De Zerbi has been tipped to get the best out of Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford at Tottenham, if they can strike a deal in August. The England international is soon set to – at least temporarily – reintegrate with the United squad after an 18-month hiatus, but his future remains unclear with speculation over an exit rife.
Barcelona opted against triggering the buyout clause to make his loan move permanent, as they opted to sign Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United. Rashford's future has been unclear following the decision from the La Liga winners as he has been linked with a move away, including links with a move to Turkey which were refuted.
No club has matched the club's valuation so far as he prepares to return to the squad, with his last competitive appearance coming in December 2024.
Rashford is said to be one of the top earners at Old Trafford, but while chiefs are said to be keen to sanction a departure, Carrick was open to the idea of the forward remaining ahead of his debut season in permanent charge.
However, talkSPORT's Alex Crook has tipped Rashford to reinvent his career under De Zerbi, while rubbishing the United forward's prospects of joining Arsenal, who face a difficult task of prizing Vinicius Jr away from Real Madrid.
It has been said that should Rashford move to London, Tottenham appears the more likely destination, with manager De Zerbi understood to be keen on the player.
United could reportedly accept an offer of around £30million, though his £325,000-a-week wages at Old Trafford remain a stumbling block, with Rashford seemingly reluctant to accept reduced terms.
Arsenal find themselves short of attacking options following Leandro Trossard's approved transfer to Besiktas, though Christos Tzolis has arrived from Club Brugge. The Gunners have been mooted to hold an interest in with Rashford in the past as well.
Meanwhile, Spurs have already invested heavily this transfer window with the signings of Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes.
However, De Zerbi will be searching the market for opportunities to strengthen their squad as they aim to secure European football after last season's battle against the drop.
For Rashford's United career, there is still a chance to reignite his prospects of becoming a key player again.
The MEN reported last month that positive talks had been held between the players' representatives and the club with the 28-year-old expected back at Carrington on the eve of the Premier League season.
