‘Deal done’: Romano confirms imminent £38.5m transfer that will directly impact Man United this summer

Juventus have finally reached a breakthrough for Randal Kolo Muani, meaning they are now unlikely to try and strike a deal for Joshua Zirkzee.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed on Wednesday that the ‘deal [is] done’ between the Old Lady and Paris Saint-Germain, with Kolo Muani poised to join in a £38.5 million transfer.

Juventus and Joshua Zirkzee: What’s been said up to this point?

In recent weeks, links between Zirkzee and Juventus had ramped up amid their talks stalling with PSG for Kolo Muani.

Reports have suggested that the Italian outfit wanted to take Manchester United’s No.11 on loan for the entirety of 2026/2027 before signing him permanently.

INEOS were said to be open to such a deal, so long as the terms included a buy obligation rather than an option.

Yet, for now, it looks as though Zirkzee, 25, will be staying put unless any alternative suitors come in.

Zirkzee could stay at United beyond transfer deadline

He is tied to Old Trafford until 2029, plus the option of an additional 12 months, so United are under no pressure to facilitate a sale.

In fact, Michael Carrick would likely benefit from the added depth next term with Champions League back on the schedule.

Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha all enjoyed successful maiden seasons in M16, having each returned at least 10 Premier League goals.

It’s also looking increasingly likely that Marcus Rashford is reintegrated into the squad following his year away at Barcelona on loan, where he scored 14 goals and recorded 14 assists in 49 appearances for the Blaugrana across all competitions.

Zirkzee was limited to only five starts in total across 2025/2026, so he’ll be hoping that the increased fixture list aids his situation and provides him plenty of opportunities to stake his claim.
