Manchester United have made an attempt to sign Inter Milan’s Francesco Pio Esposito this summer.
That’s according to journalist Alfredo Pedullà, who covers Manchester United’s interest and the Serie A winners’ stance.
The 21-year-old graduated from Inter Milan’s academy and spent two years, between 2023 and 2025, on loan at Spezia.
Since returning to the San Siro, the striker has got regular minutes. He played 2,265 minutes from 48 matches last season, managing 10 goals and six assists.
His rise over the last 12 months has seen him attract interest from the Premier League. Arsenal have followed him for a while and Mikel Arteta has reportedly asked sporting director Andrea Berta to sign him.
Last month, Sport Witness covered claims from Italy of the Gunners and Newcastle United wanting the frontman. The Magpies are willing to make a significant investment.

The Red Devils have also shown interest in the Italy international and have attempted to secure his services.
Alfredo Pedullà claims Inter Milan have resisted every attack from other clubs, ‘especially Manchester United’, for Francesco Pio Esposito. That’s because ‘there’s no room for manoeuvre’.
Cristian Chivu’s side have no intention of letting him leave and ‘no amount would have broken their resistance’.
That clearly shows the Nerazzurri are betting big on the young frontman, which makes it complicated for Manchester United and others to sign him.
Player wants to stay
In April 2025, he signed an extension until 2030 and his value, as per Transfermarkt, is €45m. There has been a €20m rise in the last 12 months, which reflects his growth.
Inter Milan want to offer Francesco Pio Esposito an improved contract, with a base salary of €3.5m per year. The two parties haven’t agreed on a new contract yet.
The Italian champions aren’t in a rush, mainly because the player has given priority to them. This is another obstacle for Michael Carrick’s side.
