Paul Parker has claimed that Marcus Rashford ‘should be embarrassed’ after being snubbed by Barcelona this summer.
Although the Catalan giants were said to be impressed with Rashford’s efforts throughout his loan stint, they opted against activating his £26 million buy option before it expired.

Marcus Rashford: What’s happened in the transfer window?
Then, rather than trying to facilitate a new agreement for the forward, they instead green-lit a £70m deal for Anthony Gordon.
It was confirmed last week that Barcelona had also welcomed another winger in the form of Karim Adeyemi, who signed in a £26.4m switch from Borussia Dortmund.
Alas, it’s safe to say there would be no room for Rashford to return to the Camp Nou, despite making it clear upon the culmination of the campaign that he wanted to sign for Barcelona permanently.

It was subsequently revealed that the 28-year-old’s Manchester United contract contained a £40m release clause for any side except Liverpool and Manchester City, but that, too, expired over a fortnight ago.

As a result, United are preparing for Rashford to return to Carrington to begin his pre-season preparations in the coming weeks, with a view to reintegrating him into the squad.
He is tied to his boyhood club until June 2028, so this summer would be one of the last opportunities to secure as high a fee as possible for his signature.
What Parker had to say about Rashford
Parker, a two-time Premier League winner with the Red Devils, weighed in on the situation, saying (via Manchester Evening News): “The biggest thing is, how can he ever be trusted by his teammates again? He wasn’t doing his job properly, but everyone allowed him to do it [and] now they have figured him out.
“Back in my time you would have been grabbed by one of the senior players, and they would do something to you which you wouldn’t find very funny.
“He has been given this small chance to come back again and, honestly, he has only been given this chance because of the fact that Barcelona didn’t want him. They decided to spend more money on Anthony Gordon, which Rashford should be feeling embarrassed about. The moment they spent that much money on Gordon, he should be embarrassed.”
