Manchester United could take advantage of the uncertainty at Newcastle United as they target Lewis Hall. The left-back is one of the names to be linked with a move to Old Trafford in the summer transfer window.
The Manchester Evening News reports that Hall is on United’s radar and is one of the top candidates for the left-back signing. United are on the lookout for a new player in the position to provide competition to Luke Shaw.
The interest means that United will be keeping a keen eye on what is going on at St James’ Park. It has been reported that Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe is set to leave after five years at the club and be replaced by Matthias Jaissle.
The development has caused shock around the world of football, and the upheaval is likely to unsettle players who have been linked with a move away from the club. This is where United could strike.
The Sun reports that United are now thinking of making their move for Hall, who they see as the long-term replacement for Shaw.
It’s added that the defender wanted to leave Newcastle even before Howe’s exit.
It’s said that Hall believes that his positional change at Newcastle at the end of last season, caused him to miss out on a place in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for this summer’s World Cup.
He was switched to right-back to cover for injuries, before being named on the bench for games towards the end of the season.

The i Paper also reports that Hall is unsettled at Newcastle, although no talks have taken place between the two clubs yet. Newcastle have already sold two key players this summer in Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali for a combined £170 million.
Key midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has also been linked with a move away from St James’ Park, with Arsenal keen to sign the Brazilian.
Whether they would be open to selling Hall is still to be seen.
The left-back has three years remaining on his deal with Newcastle. He has made a total of 102 appearances for the Magpies since joining from Chelsea in 2024.
