Two Man Utd first-team players report for pre-season ahead of Atletico Madrid clash

Manchester United face Atletico Madrid in Sweden this weekend, with Michael Carrick set to have a much stronger senior group available to him.

After Manchester United lost to Wrexham and then beat Rosenborg comfortably in a 5-0 thrashing, the real challenge starts against Diego Simeone’s side this weekend.

Michael Carrick will be delighted to have a stronger first-team contingent for this trip.

Amad returned to training on Monday alongside Altay Bayindir. Now, Thursday has seen two more faces arrive to try and be in contention for the trip this weekend.

Youri Tielemans and Senne Lammens report to Carrington

We are expecting the United players who were at the World Cup to start returning thick and fast this summer, and the latest two returnees were the Belgian duo.

Senne Lammens was pictured arriving for his second season at United, a sight which could now accelerate the sale of Radek Vitek this summer.

While Youri Tielemans has reported to start his United career with his compatriot likely to be key in helping him settle in quickly.

Tielemans signed for United just over two weeks ago for £35m from Aston Villa, which is a move that could be huge for United in the coming campaign.

Will Tielemans or Lammens play vs Atletico?

This question is pretty tough to answer right now, as it will all depend on how ready they have stayed during the summer, whether there are any injuries, and also how locked in Carrick’s plans are.

Assuming they arrived on Thursday, that only gives them one day of training, likely only gym-work before the Atletico clash.

We assume both Tielemans and Lammens will travel, but they are unlikely to feature in the game. Lammens would be more likely, but chances are we will have to wait until the PSG game to see Tielemans in action.

Next up, should be Noussair Mazraoui, Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot.
