Manchester United have cashed in on Tyler Fredricson, who joined INEOS-owned Lausanne Sport on a permanent transfer.
The 21-year-old is a Man Utd academy product who earned his senior debut under Ruben Amorim in the 2024/25 season.
Last term, the defender only earned one start throughout the campaign, and he only lasted 45 minutes before being hauled off, as the team went on to suffer a humiliating defeat to fourth-tier club Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup.
Man United sell Tyler Fredricson to Lausanne-Sport
In January, Fredricson was linked to Celtic, but the deal didn’t materialise. With the young centre-back dropped from Michael Carrick’s pre-season squad, the Scottish giants had the opportunity to launch a new onslaught, but have seemingly decided to look elsewhere.
Therefore, the Englishman ended up joining Lausanne-Sport. Man Utd confirmed the sale with a statement published on the club’s official website.
The club paid tribute to the young man who climbed his way up every age group, as his adventure at Carrington began with Man Utd’s U9 side.
BBC journalist Simon Stone revealed that Fredricson has signed a three-year contract with the Swiss club, owned by MUFC’s minority owners INEOS.

The journalist adds that United would receive a significant percentage on a future resale after negotiating a large sell-on fee.
Why Man Utd cashed in on Fredricson
With Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, Matthijs de Ligt, Leny Yoro, and Ayden Heaven all ahead of him in the pecking order, Fredricson’s exit was hardly surprising, especially with Carrick reverting to a four-man backline.
Even when four of his aforementioned teammates were simultaneously unavailable last season, the United head coach preferred to move Noussair Mazraoui into a central role alongside Heaven. Therefore, Fredricson could no longer realistically aspire to a prominent role at Old Trafford.
And while the transfer fee remains undisclosed, it will constitute a pure capital gain for Man Utd thanks to the player’s academy-product status.
