United remain interested in signing Everton winger Iliman Ndiaye, but face being priced out by Al Hilal, who are reported to be closing in on a deal.
According to ESPN, United still have shortlisted Ndiaye as they search for a versatile forward capable of playing across the front line. The 26-year-old is valued at around £70m by Everton, who are said to be treating any approach as a fight to keep the player rather than a straightforward ‘gimme’ sale.
United’s move is complicated by their own business.
Fabrizio Romano has said the club are “not proceeding or progressing because of the Rashford situation,” with United needing to offload the forward before funding any new attacking signing.
Reports linking Rashford with a £30m move to Tottenham have circulated, though nothing is close to being finalised on that front.
Al Hilal’s interest is further advanced. Sacha Tavolieri reported this week that talks between the Saudi club and Everton are ongoing, with personal terms not seen as an obstacle and the fee the main sticking point — though some reports have also suggested a £64m deal is close to being agreed, a claim Everton have not confirmed.
Ndiaye is said to be open to the move should it materialise.
For United, the situation leaves them still interested but unable to act.
Unless the Rashford exit accelerates, or Everton’s stance on Ndiaye softens, the club’s interest may struggle to translate into anything concrete before Al Hilal’s more advanced pursuit is resolved one way or the other.
