There has been outrage over Manchester United reportedly preparing to sell Harry Amass this summer, but the scenario in which this looks genius is coming to pass.
Signing Lewis Hall this summer has been a bit of a pipe dream for Manchester United this summer, with Ineos’ case not helped by Newcastle already hosting a fire-sale, which saw Sandro Tonali join Spurs and Anthony Gordon to Barcelona.
Selling another prized asset seemed unlikely, but Hall will be more keen than ever on United, with Newcastle a sinking ship, which the manager, Eddie Howe, has now jumped from, resigning on Thursday.
This could see Newcastle’s will to fight and keep Hall and Bruno Guimaraes dissipate, with the new manager likely to go along with whatever the club says. This could see the exodus of Newcastle’s best players continue, in which case United will be waiting for Hall.

All summer, Hall has been the dream left-back target, but has been presumed unattainable with a big price tag and Howe unlikely to sanction further sales.
But Howe’s leaving sees a huge part of the club gone, and therefore, the club might be ready to cash in and rebuild.
After the bombshell resignation, I News reporter Mark Douglas detailed the behind-the-scenes situation at Newcastle. In which Hall got a mention.

The Newcastle reporter explained that Howe wanted to leave due to Newcastle selling his best players, with both Hall and Guimaraes also “unsettled” at the club, which indicates that these two potentially also being sold might have driven Howe over the line. A huge boost for United’s chances of signing Hall.
Howe and Hall had a falling out, with Dan Burn starting ahead of the left-back, but he was never keen to lose him.

All of this, coupled with reliable United accounts on social media claiming Hall contact has been made this week, all point toward a move for the left-back coming to fruition.
This would be huge for United, a game-changer that also allows one terrible bit of news to be viewed more positively.
One interesting point to also reflect on is that Hall and Howe share the same agent, which might have been a stumbling block for any deal, which now isn’t a factor.

Hall would cost upwards of £60m, but if he is the left-back to replace Luke Shaw, he could be worth every penny.
Signing Hall also happens to be one of the only reasons that United selling Harry Amass this summer makes sense, which means the way this has all developed this week makes a lot of sense.
Amass could be sold in the same week Hall to United heats up, putting two and two together, it is very exciting.
If United sells Amass with a buy-back and big sell-on, allowing him to develop for two seasons before bringing him back to compete with Hall after Shaw’s retirement, it would be excellent squad planning from Ineos.
There is still a long way to go in this, but it is beginning to come together for United.
