While few people have become synonymous with LeBron James over the course of his illustrious basketball career, no one may be closer to James than longtime friend and business partner, Maverick Carter.
A history dating back to their time at St. Vincent-St. Mary’s High School, James and Carter developed a friendship as teenagers, which eventually blossomed into a professional relationship when Carter became LeBron’s advisor at 21.
Fast forward to 2026, and not only are the two still longtime friends, but Carter continues to serve as James’s business advisor, helping the NBA star reach a net worth of over $1 billion, according to Forbes.

Nevertheless, these two could not be closer than actual brothers, to say the least.

So, with all the news circulating about LeBron James’ future following his recent signing with Philadelphia, it’s no surprise to see Carter defending his friend after rumors began to swirl about a “Last Dance”-style documentary reportedly in the works for LeBron.
Taking to his X account this afternoon, the Uninterrupted CEO blasted members of the media who decided to run with narratives regarding LeBron’s final season.
“We are NOT doing anything like the ‘last dance’,” Carter wrote on X, “LeBron doesn’t even know when his last season is.”

Considering James signed a two-year deal with the 76ers, it does seem rather clear the NBA’s all-time leading scorer does not intend to finish his career after one season in Philadelphia.
However, if he is to win that elusive fifth NBA Championship, perhaps he rides off into the sunset as one of the most decorated players of all time.
