Warriors rumors: ClutchPoints insider predicts Brandin Podziemski contract windfall surging over $20 million a year

The Golden State Warriors have had a frustratingly uneventful offseason thus far, recently missing out on LeBron James in free agency. The Warriors are now left with few options to meaningfully improve their team before the 2026-27 season gets underway.

One possibility for the rest of this offseason is that the Warriors extend young guard Brandin Podziemski, who has had a solid first few years in the league.

Recently, ClutchPoints NBA insider Brett Siegel broke down what he thinks a new contract for Podziemski would look like.

“I think the sweet spot would be between that $18-19 million per year range. I personally expect this to be a little bit north of $20 million. Somewhere in that $22-24 million range for Brandin Podziemski annually,” he said, per ClutchPoints on X, formerly Twitter.

Podziemski had a strong rookie season for the Warriors, and that, combined with the fact that he plays for one of the league's marquee franchises, gave him some notoriety in the NBA landscape. Unfortunately, his game has largely stagnated over the last couple of seasons, and his often brazen quotes in the media have made him an easy target for criticism when things go wrong for Golden State.

While he doesn't necessarily profile as a legit building block for Golden State moving forward, it would still certainly be against the Warriors' best interests to lose him for nothing, so it will be interesting to see if Podziemski's agents and Golden State's brass see eye-to-eye on the numbers for a potential new deal.

Coming up with potential figures on a Podziemski extension is certainly not where Warriors fans hoped they'd be at this point in the NBA offseason.
