Liverpool news: PSG breakthrough offers major Bradley Barcola boost as club line up move

Liverpool have welcomed just two new signings this transfer window but Andoni Iraola could soon be boosted by a major arrival

The Andoni Iraola era at Liverpool has begun and the new manager brings with him a wave of changes. But so far, only two new recruits have arrived at Anfield in Jeremy Jacquet and Victor Munoz.

After leaving Bournemouth for the Reds, Iraola's pre-season is in full swing and Liverpool followed up a win against Sunderland with a 1-0 victory over Wrexham in New York. Rio Ngumoha's strike was the difference and he notably played out on the right wing, where the iconic Mohamed Salah would usually prowl. The Egyptian King has still not been replaced.

Bradley Barcola boost

It is understood that Liverpool have begun negotiations with PSG over Barcola, who is valued at an eye-watering £140m. Preliminary talks with the player's representatives have already been held and the signs are encouraging.

However, it is likely the French side will want a replacement before they let a player like Barcola walk. Sky Sports Germany reports that a decisive development has taken place in talks regarding Maghnes Akliouche.

PSG have been courting the Monaco dynamo for some time, but a breakthrough has now been reported. All parties are currently confident that a deal will get done.

Akliouche has also agreed personal terms with Luis Enrique's side and so, should he arrive as predicted, this would hand the Reds a major boost as they attempt to sign Barcola.

Curtis Jones update

On the departures front, Curtis Jones has long been linked with a transfer away from Liverpool and Inter Milan are the primary suitors. Negotiations are ongoing between the two clubs, though they remain apart on valuations.

But Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that once Inter complete the free-agent acquisition of John Stones, they will go all in for Jones.

Manager Cristian Chivu is supposedly desperate to wrap up a deal for the midfielder and after a meeting two nights ago, Inter's chiefs agreed that their approach will be slow but direct.

They value the player at £21m whilst the Reds want £34m, but the Italian side are more than willing to play the waiting game. Jones came off the bench in the 1-0 victory over Wrexham and was seen in animated discussion with some of his team-mates after full-time.
