Stephen Curry is not expected to leave the Warriors despite their failed LeBron James pursuit, with Golden State reportedly prepared to give him full control over his next extension.
The Golden State Warriors missed out on LeBron James, but that does not appear to have changed Stephen Curry's future with the franchise.
After James chose the Philadelphia 76ers over the Warriors, Miami Heat, and Cleveland Cavaliers, questions quickly turned toward Golden State's next move – and whether Steph could eventually grow frustrated with the team's inability to land another superstar.
According to ClutchPoints' Brett Siegel on the Clutch Scoops podcast, there is no reason to expect Curry to leave Golden State.
"There's been a lot of noise since they missed out on LeBron of, 'Oh, does Steph Curry want out? What's going to happen with Steph?'" Siegel said. "He does not want out."
Siegel then strongly shut down any possibility of a Curry trade in the near future.
"I can say that with 100% confidence that he will not be moved this offseason," Siegel said. "He will not be moved during the 2026-27 season."
The insider went even further, saying Curry is likely to finish his career with the Warriors.
"Stephen Curry is going to remain with the Warriors very likely throughout the rest of his career," Siegel said. "I don't see any scenario in which he leaves. That is his team. They have built this organization in his image, and it's his franchise and will forever be his franchise."

Warriors expected to prioritize Curry extension
Curry's contract situation is now expected to be one of Golden State's main priorities.
Siegel noted that Curry becomes extension eligible on August 6, with a possible two-year deal worth around $136 million available. According to him, there is mutual interest between Curry and the Warriors to continue the relationship.
"Everything is going to revolve around Stephen Curry for the Warriors, where he is extension eligible starting August 6th," Siegel said. "There is mutual interest to get a deal done there."
Siegel added that Golden State is ready to let Curry decide what type of contract structure he wants.
"Stephen Curry wants to stay with the Warriors on a new deal. They want him on a new deal," Siegel noted. "They're basically going to present him with a blank check and a blank contract and say, what do you want?"
Per Siegel, the Warriors are expected to give Curry the choice of whether he wants a one-year extension, a two-year deal, or any kind of discount.
"They're going to give him whatever Steph Curry wants," Siegel added.
Warriors still searching for help around Curry
Golden State's failed pursuit of James leaves the team in a difficult position.
The Warriors kept flexibility open for a possible LeBron move, but with the 22-time All-Star now joining Philadelphia, Golden State has been forced to pivot.
Siegel said the Warriors are not tied down financially and still have flexibility going into the trade deadline and next offseason, but there is no immediate star-level move available right now.
"They will have flexibility heading into the trade deadline," Siegel said. "They will have flexibility heading into next offseason."
The Warriors are expected to continue building around Curry, Draymond Green, and Jimmy Butler, while hoping younger players such as Brandin Podziemski, Yaxel Lendeborg, Gui Santos, Will Richard, and others can take a step forward.
Siegel also mentioned that Warriors owner Joe Lacob is still expected to look for big moves during the season.
"Joe Lacob is always looking to make big moves, and that will continue into this season," Siegel said.
