Kyle Kuzma does not appear headed to the buyout market anytime soon.
The former Los Angeles Lakers forward has been viewed as a potential name to monitor for teams looking for frontcourt help, but according to ClutchPoints' Brett Siegel on the Clutch Scoops podcast, Kuzma is expected to remain with the Milwaukee Bucks for now.
Siegel mentioned Kuzma while discussing veteran players whose names have been floated around as possible buyout candidates.
"Kyle Kuzma with Milwaukee. Jeremy Grant with the Memphis Grizzlies. Those guys are going to be remaining with their teams for now, and they'll be trade assets as well throughout the season," Siegel said.
Kuzma remains a trade asset
Kuzma's name is especially relevant for the Lakers because of his past in Los Angeles, and the team's continued search for forward help around Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves.
The 31-year-old began his NBA career with the Lakers, quickly becoming one of the team's young core pieces after being selected in the first round of the 2017 NBA Draft.
He later became a key rotation player during the Lakers' 2020 championship run before being moved to the Washington Wizards in the Russell Westbrook trade.
Since then, Kuzma has become a productive scoring forward, spending several seasons in Washington before eventually landing with Milwaukee.
His current situation with the Bucks is different from a typical buyout candidate.
According to Siegel, Milwaukee had interest in moving Kuzma last season, and the forward could remain a name to watch once the 2026-27 campaign begins.
"The Bucks, they had interest in moving Kuzma last year," Siegel said. "We'll see if they look to move him again this season."
