The Minnesota Timberwolves could look at Jeremy Sochan as they continue trying to round out their roster before the 2026-27 NBA season.
Speaking on the Clutch Scoops podcast, ClutchPoints' Brett Siegel mentioned Sochan as one of the names to monitor for Minnesota, with the Timberwolves still having an open roster spot to fill.
"They still have an open roster spot to fill," Siegel said. "And real quickly, two names that we've heard that have some kind of rumblings to the Timberwolves right now, Jeremy Sochan and Trendon Wofford."
The second player refers to former Sixer Trendon Watford, while Sochan is the more notable name because of his draft pedigree, defensive profile, and unusual career path over the last year.
Sochan looking for next opportunity
Sochan was selected by the San Antonio Spurs with the No. 9 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft after one season at Baylor. At the time, he became San Antonio's highest draft pick since Tim Duncan went No. 1 overall in 1997.
The 6-foot-8 forward quickly became known for his defensive versatility, energy, and ability to guard multiple positions.
He was named to the 2022-23 NBA All-Rookie Team and was a two-time Rising Stars participant during his first two NBA seasons.
However, his role in San Antonio changed dramatically during the 2025-26 campaign. The Spurs released Sochan in February after he slipped out of the rotation, playing only eight total minutes over his final 12 games before being waived.
After clearing waivers, Sochan signed with the New York Knicks for the rest of the season. Before leaving San Antonio, he averaged 4.1 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.0 assist in 12.8 minutes across 28 games off the bench for the Spurs.
Sochan eventually added championship experience to his résumé last season, winning an NBA title after joining the Knicks. He appeared in eight playoff games.
For his career, Sochan averaged 9.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in 24.1 minutes over 228 games, including 149 starts.
