Why Andoni Iraola Is PERFECT For Liverpool

Arsenal have been given a major boost in their pursuit of Bruno Guimaraes following Newcastle manager Eddie Howe’s decision to quit just weeks before the start of the new Premier League season. Guimaraes is due to return to pre-season training on Friday but Howe’s departure suggests that the Newcastle captain could also be close to an exit.

While the Premier League champions are yet to launch an official bid for Guimaraes, Newcastle, who have already sold Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali this summer, have also been linked with another exit, with left back Lewis Hall also said to be of interest to Manchester United. Hall, 21, is viewed as a long-term successor to Luke Shaw, according to reports.

Elsewhere, Liverpool have agreed terms with Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola, according to reports in France, but are still a considerable distance away from agreeing a fee for the French international. Barcola wants to join Liverpool, according to L’Equipe, but the European champions will demand £140m this summer and the Reds are now set to open talks with his club.

Harvey Elliott eyes ‘second chance’ at Liverpool under Andoni Iraola after Aston Villa loan nightmare

Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott is hopeful that the arrival of Andoni Iraola will help him secure a "second chance" at establishing himself within the squad, following a challenging loan spell last season.

The 23-year-old endured a difficult time at Aston Villa, where he featured in only nine games, totalling 277 minutes. His limited appearances were due to a specific clause in his loan agreement, which would have obligated Villa to sign him for £35 million had he made a tenth appearance.
