Wembanyama is excited about playing for France after 2 years: 'I miss FIBA, not NBA'

After two years, Victor Wembanyama is set to play again for France NT this summer.

Wembanyama played his last game for France during 2024 Olympic Games in Paris where they lost the Final Game to Team USA.

After missing last year's EuroBasket, Wembanyama will play in August's window for the 2027 FIBA World Cup Qualifiers against Slovenia and Sweden.

In a media scrum during the renovation of a basketball court in Nanterre, Wembanyama noted how excited he is to play for France again.

"When I come back here, it does me a lot of good," he says, before looking ahead to his return to the blue jersey, since he had to miss Euro 2025.

"I don't miss the NBA at the moment, but I do miss FIBA basketball," he clearly tells the journalists that were present.

"It’s sometimes hard to keep in touch with France every day, being away for so many months across the Atlantic. But coming back here, there’s nothing simpler because these are people I know, people I trust. I was surrounded almost exclusively by good people, growing up in Nanterre and in France in general," Wembanyama concluded.
