Manchester United are seeking new signings to strengthen their squad. Michael Carrick’s side are preparing for a pivotal campaign that will see the club return to the Champions League and look to be part of the Premier League title race.
Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans are the club’s most notable new additions so far as United seek to reshape their midfield. The Red Devils spent a combined £85million on the duo but have been linked with signing a third midfielder this summer.
Despite the focus on midfield, Carrick will be aware of the need to strengthen other areas of his team. The club are interested in Newcastle left-back Lewis Hall, who is reportedly open to a move to Old Trafford.
Lewis Hall transfer update
United are interested in Newcastle defender Hall and are reportedly considering a move for the full-back. The update follows news on Thursday morning that that Eddie Howe had left Newcastle, ending the manager’s almost five-year reign at St James’ Park.
The Sun reports that United are “weighing up” a move for Hall, given the uncertainty around the Magpies. However, it is claimed that the England international may yet be persuaded to stay, depending on Howe’s successor.
From United’s standpoint, the former Chelsea academy graduate is viewed as a long-term successor to Luke Shaw at left-back. However, Newcastle may be reluctant to sell another key player after losing Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali this summer, while Bruno Guimaraes has also attracted interest.
Hall made 46 appearances for Newcastle in all competitions last season. The 21-year-old is under contract until 2029, having joined the club in a deal worth £35m from Chelsea in 2023.
