Liverpool have made initial contact with AC Milan over a deal to sign defender Fikayo Tomori, according to Tutto Juve.
The Reds have had a relatively quiet summer transfer window so far, bringing in Victor Munoz and Jeremy Jacquet to add to their squad for new manager Andoni Iraola, who replaced Arne Slot as manager at the end of last season.
But after losing Ibrahima Konate to Real Madrid at the end of his contract, and with Joe Gomez to miss the start of the season due to injury, the Merseyside club are keen to add more defensive reinforcements to their squad before the transfer deadline.

Tomori, who has been described as 'formidable', is into the final 12 months of his contract with the Serie A giants, and Milan are potentially open to cashing in on him now rather than losing him on a free next year.
Liverpool are keen to bring in defensive experience and talent that can slot in alongside Virgil Van Dijk, while also not blocking the pathway of Jacquet and Giovanni Leoni, who is currently recovering from a serious knee injury.
The Anfield club have now made contact with Milan to find out what terms would be required to get a deal done, with talks at a very early stage and not advanced.
Tomori has been capped six times for England's senior team in his career, with his last cap coming earlier in 2026. He was also part of Thomas Tuchel's 55-man provisional squad for the World Cup this summer, although he didn't make the cut for the final squad.
Andoni Iraola is understood to be a fan of the defender, and he has been included on the shortlist of potential options to come into the club this summer for what is proving to be a problem position for the squad currently. Now, Liverpool are looking to ascertain how much a deal will cost, and how much room for negotiation there is, before deciding whether to submit a formal offer or not.

Tomori may not be the flashiest name on the market, or someone who is right at the top level in the world when it comes to centre-backs. But he is a very reliable defender in the prime years of his career, who could be available for a modest fee and has Premier League experience.
Considering the issues that Liverpool have in their squad at the moment in that position, bringing in a player like that would be a huge boost to the new manager, but would also alleviate the pressure on Van Dijk as the only senior option, and young players like Jacquet, who will need time to adapt.
Whether it happens or not remains to be seen, but this would be a really smart move for the former Chelsea man, and it's one to watch in the coming weeks.
