Manchester United have one month to go before the summer transfer window slams shut on September 1. Michael Carrick’s side have brought in five new signings as the manager look to reshape his squad.
Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos lead the midfield rebuild, while goalkeeper Karl Darlow has been signed in as experienced backup to Senne Lammens. United have also snapped up young shot-stopper Kit Margetson and highly-rated winger Tynan Thompson as the club plan for the future.
There has already been a goalkeeping shake-up at the club, despite Lammens making the number one spot his own last term, with Andre Onana returning on loan to Trabzonspor and Altay Bayindir and Radek Vitek also being linked with moves away. However, an agent has claimed that United made an approach for Orlando Gill, who starred at this summer’s World Cup.
Agent confirms Man Utd transfer approach
United reportedly made contact over a possible move for San Lorenzo goalkeeper Orlando Gill, whose performances for Paraguay received praise during the World Cup. The club are unlikely to pursue the 26-year-old after signing Darlow but Gill’s agent Mario Jara admitted that United were among the sides to show interest in his client.
“We are in talks with English clubs as well as clubs in Germany,” Jara told DSports Radio. “There were enquiries with Manchester United. We only received two concrete offers. We are currently in the negotiation phase.
"The sale is close, the time is right. We have to handle it very carefully because there are many things involved. It's ideal for him to take a step up in quality. He's prepared and capable of playing in any league, without a doubt."
He added: "We're trying to finalise it as quickly as possible for everyone's benefit. It would be very important for San Lorenzo; hopefully, it will come to fruition."

Stance on £42m star emerges
United could reportedly benefit from Juventus signing Bayer Leverkusen prospect Kerim Alajbegovic. It is claimed that the Italian giants are open to selling winger Francisco Conceicao, who has been linked with a move to Old Trafford.
Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport reports that United and Liverpool have both made enquiries about the 23-year-old. It is added that Juve’s asking price ranges from £34m to £42m.
A Premier League move is considered likely for Conceicao, who made 42 appearances for Juventus last season. It is said that the club have made the tough decision to sell the forward to balance the books after recruiting Alajbegovic from Leverkusen.
