Sky Sports and BBC reporter James Lewer provided two separate updates this evening regarding the futures of Dan Gore and Toby Collyer.
In Lewer’s first post on X, regarding Gore, he claims the youngster’s representatives are exploring options after being left out of Carrick’s recent squad, having gained a lot of admirers following his successful loan at Rotherham.
Lewer’s follow-up update on Collyer explained that United are open to options for the academy graduate to leave, though another loan deal isn’t being ruled out.
Considering how United have benefited from adding sell-on and buy-back clauses into deals for academy players since Ineos took control of football operations in 2024, it would be wise to follow that as a blueprint with other potential stars.
Ineos need to ensure they do the same with Gore and Collyer so United don’t end up regretting it if they both develop into top-level players.
Tyler Fredricson joined Lausanne-Sports from United on a three-year deal earlier this week, but it is understood they have included a high-percentage sell-on and buy-back clause in the deal.
It makes sense that United would do the same with Gore and Collyer, unless the two players are sent on loan instead of leaving permanently.
Gore and Collyer have been highly thought of in United’s academy for years, but they’ve both been unlucky with injuries.
