Fabrizio Romano drops major Lewis Hall to Manchester United transfer news

Newcastle United have endured a tough summer transfer window so far. They have lost key players already and more could follow out the exit door. Lewis Hall is one of the names on that probable list.

Hall is considered by many as already ‘world-class’ on his day. There are also those who believe that he has the talent to be the best left-back in the entire Premier League.

That goes to show how high the ceiling is. And to most fans, the idea of even entertaining Hall leaving this summer would be absolutely unthinkable.

That being said, after everything we have seen unfold at St James’ Park this summer, including the exit of Eddie Howe in the middle of pre-season, absolutely nothing should be ruled out.

Fabrizio Romano drops Lewis Hall to Manchester United transfer update

Fabrizio Romano said while speaking on his YouTube channel regarding the situation involving Manchester United’s interest in Hall:

“Man United really appreciate Lewis Hall and Man United consider Lewis Hall as an ideal player they would like to add to their squad. So, Lewis Hall is in Manchester United list, for sure, and is a player internally approved at Manchester United.

“But, my understanding is that Newcastle will make their life complicated. Newcastle don’t want to sell Lewis Hall.”

As Romano further points out, Newcastle United have already brought in plenty of money from the departures of Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali. Bruno Guimaraes is expected to join Arsenal as well.

As a result, they are not keen on parting ways with Hall this summer as well. Of course, the situation can change. But as Romano points out:

“So, Newcastle wants to keep Lewis Hall and Newcastle don’t want to sell the player. That’s the indication, that’s the message. Then if you ask me, Man United consider him top target? Yes.

“Man United are having some contacts to understand the situation of Lewis Hall? Yes, for sure.

“But then there is Newcastle and so before saying that United are going to try all in, we have to understand Newcastle stance and Newcastle position.”

Newcastle United cannot afford to lose Hall as well

As mentioned already, Newcastle United have already lost far too much quality this summer. The fans are already frustrated with how things have played out so far.

This project has gone from trying to be the next Manchester City to being the new Brighton & Hove Albion or Bournemouth. With all due respect to all clubs, there is a clear difference in ambition there.

It is hard to imagine how Newcastle United could manage to replace Tonali, Gordon and Guimaraes in the same window. None of the players they have signed are near that level. Now, the last thing they need to do is add a Hall problem to that list as well.

At the same time, there have been links with a move for Antonee Robinson in recent days. That might be a suggestion that Newcastle United could already be quietly preparing themselves for the possibility of Hall leaving this summer.

Of course, Robinson is a very talented left-back in his own right. But most Newcastle United fans would rather keep Hall around. Also, let us not overlook the possibility of Chelsea trying to re-sign their Cobham graduate, having seen Marc Cucurella leave for Real Madrid this summer.
