Manchester United fans have been sent a fresh update over the potential signing of Newcastle United star Lewis Hall. Michael Carrick is far from done in the summer transfer window following the signings of Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos, with the Red Devils requiring more quality and depth before they can say they have enough to compete for another top three spot and a Champions League run.
United need another midfielder, one that is capable of replacing Casemiro in that holding role, while they also need a left-back to back-up and compete with Luke Shaw, and another attacker will also be on the wishlist.
On the left-back front, Newcastle's Hall looks to be the priority, but a deal is not going to be easy to do.
Man Utd want Hall, but Newcastle will play hardball

According to transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano, Man Utd are going to find it hard to land Hall this summer due to the sales Newcastle have already made. He said on his YouTube channel: "Many questions on Manchester United and Lewis Hall. I already told you, I think it was in June, and I stand by that information. Man Utd really appreciate Lewis Hall. Man Utd consider Lewis Hall an ideal player to add to their squad. So, he is on Man Ut'd list, for sure, and he is a player internally approved at Manchester United.
"But my understanding is that Newcastle United will make their life complicated. Newcastle don't want to sell Lewis. Newcastle have already made big sales this summer, Tonali, Gordon and Bruno Guimaraes is expected to join Arsenal this summer.
"So, Newcastle want to keep Hall and Newcastle don't want to sell the player. That's the indication, that's the message. Then, if you ask me if Man Utd consider him a top target, yes, Man Utd are having some contacts to understand the situation of Newcastle's stance and situation. So, its going to be a story to follow because Man Utd are not done in the market, that's clear."
Howe was a big fan of Hall

Newcastle United have now lost Eddie Howe, who resigned, with Matthias Jaissle now looking as though he will be chosen to replace the long-serving Magpies boss, arriving from, you guessed it, Saudi Arabia.
Howe was a big fan of Hall's, previously saying: "He has been a real shining light in that aspect by being the same Lewis, home or away. For someone so young that is hard to do. His technical delivery has been outstanding, building attacks... Defensively, he has been pretty good, but there are still areas to improve and develop. He's moving in the right direction, but for someone so young his maturity levels have been really good."
He added on a different occasion: "He's a talented young player for sure. He has a beautiful left foot and he's got a high level of technical ability. There is a real high potential with him ... We really do believe in him. We have always believed in him and his quality and we have been working really hard with him on his game. He's a really talented lad ... I believe in him. My vision for him is he will be at Newcastle for many years."
