Liverpool’s Bradley Barcola pursuit opens up as PSG close in on winger duo

Liverpool’s pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain‘s Bradley Barcola could take an important step forward as the French side close in on signing two new wingers.

Liverpool are in the process of starting negotiations with PSG over a move for Barcola, eyeing a deal for around £100 million – well below the top valuation of £145 million.

Crucially, the Frenchman is open to the move and has walked away from contract talks with the Parisian side. It leaves Liverpool needing to strike an agreement with his club.

There are positive signs in that respect, with PSG having a bid of £42.7 million accepted by Monaco for Maghnes Akliouche, as per L’Equipe.

This Is Anfield understands Liverpool had enquired about the 24-year-old’s availability earlier in the summer, but the right winger is Paris-bound.

Moreover, transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has stated on X that they have also opened talks to sign Ajax winger Mika Godts, who operates on the left wing.

The 21-year-old has played over 100 games for the Dutch side, and a fee in the region of €60 million (£51.3m) has been mooted.

With PSG moving closer to agreeing deals for two wingers after withdrawing from the race to sign Yan Diomande, Liverpool will be hopeful that it plays into their hands for Barcola.

Preliminary talks have already taken place, but there is a clear gap in Liverpool’s valuation (£80m-100m) and PSG’s asking price of €170 million (£145.6m).

The Reds will not be driven to overpay, and while PSG have seemingly addressed Barcola’s expected departure with Akliouche and Godts, negotiations could still be protracted.

Andoni Iraola will hope that is not the case as he looks to assemble his squad sooner rather than later, but the arrival of the French international would immediately bolster his options.

Barcola would be expected to be fluid on both sides of Liverpool’s attack, with Iraola telling reporters in the US: “Normally I try to encourage them (wingers) to have the ability to play both sides.

“I know some of them are more comfortable on one side, but our team is not normally symmetric, so sometimes one of the wingers has to do more defensive work.”
