Fabrizio Romano: Everton readying formal bid for Man United striker

Everton want to bring Manchester United striker Ethan Wheatley to the Hill Dickinson Stadium this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano. Everton manager David Moyes wants to strengthen the Toffees’ attack and the Blues have been linked with Chelsea striker Liam Delap. Wheatley has now emerged as an option for the Merseyside club as he is not in the plans of Man United manager Michael Carrick. Everton are already preparing a proposal to make formal approach for the 20-year-old Red Devils academy graduate.

Wheatley has made four appearances for the Old Trafford club, but he is surplus to requirements. The Everton target spent last season on loan in League One with Northampton Town and Bradford City, making 36 appearances across both spells. He was in League Two with Walsall in 2024-25 and a move to prove himself in the Premier League could appeal to him.

The England youth international was Man United’s Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year in 2023-04 after impressing with the under-18s.
