Douglas Luiz has confirmed that he wants to stay at Juventus this summer following his second spell at Aston Villa.
The Brazilian returned to Villa in January for the second half of last season following injuries to Youri Tielemans and John McGinn.
Having left Villa for Juventus in the summer of 2024 for £42.5 million, Luiz struggled in his first campaign in Italy due to injuries and a lack of form.
The 28-year-old also failed to rediscover his best level during a loan spell at Nottingham Forest in the first half of last season before being recalled and returning to Villa.
Luiz started six consecutive league games following his return, but once McGinn and Tielemans recovered from injury, he played more than 20 minutes in just one match before the final-day win over Manchester City.
Winning the Europa League was the perfect ending to his second spell at Villa, with the club deciding not to activate their option to sign him permanently.
After scoring in Juventus' friendly win over Nice, Luiz outlined his plans in an interview with TMW.
“Yes, that’s what’s on my mind and my first thought since coming back. My priority now is to stay here and show everything I can do, my best for this club.”
Speaking about his goal, Luiz said: “It can definitely help me. I can show the coach and the club that I can aim for the best, and I can demonstrate on the pitch why I was signed.”
