Man United goalkeeper set for La Liga move after agreement
Manchester United have agreed to send Altay Bayindir to Celta Vigo on loan for the 2026/27 season.
The transfer is now close to completion, with the goalkeeper expected to travel to Spain next week.
Alberto Bravo of Metropolitano Vigo reports that Celta have reached an agreement with United. The clubs are expected to exchange documents over the weekend before Bayindir travels to Vigo to complete the final steps of the move.
The 28-year-old has been expected to leave Old Trafford this summer after falling down the goalkeeping order. A move to Spain should give him a better chance of playing regular first-team football.
Bayindir joined United from Fenerbahce in 2023 but has struggled to establish himself as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper. His opportunities have become even more limited following changes to Michael Carrick’s goalkeeping department.
Senne Lammens remains ahead of him in the pecking order, while United have also added Karl Darlow to the squad. ReadManUtd previously reported that Darlow arrived to provide more experience in goal, increasing the competition for places.
The Altay Bayindir Celta Vigo transfer therefore gives both the player and United a sensible solution. Bayindir can compete for more regular minutes, while Carrick reduces the number of senior goalkeepers in his squad.
The Turkey international remains under contract at Old Trafford, so his longer-term future will be assessed once the loan ends. For now, the agreement is in place and only the remaining paperwork and formalities need to be completed.
Bayindir is expected to arrive in Vigo next week before joining Celta’s preparations for the new season.
