Liverpool battling Man Utd to sign £43m ace who says he's "one of the best players in the world"

Liverpool and Manchester United are reportedly battling to sign Juventus attacker Francisco Conceicao, with the Portuguese likely to leave the club this summer.

Despite the constant links to Bradley Barcola and others, 2026 World Cup winner Victor Munoz remains the Reds’ only wide signing in the summer transfer window, coming in from Osasuna.

At least one more winger is needed before the 2026/27 season gets started, if not two, and Conceicao is another name who has been mentioned this year.

Now, Gazzetta dello Sport report that Liverpool and United are both interested in signing the 23-year-old, and he is likely to leave Juve by the middle of August.

The Turin giants are believed to be looking to earn approximately £34m-43m for Conceicao’s signature, with his current deal expiring in the summer of 2030.

Can Francisco Conceicao reach his potential at Liverpool?

Conceicao is undoubtedly a huge talent with lots of quality on the right wing, and the Portugal international clearly has confidence in himself as a player, once saying:

“Nobody is able to dribble past someone, until someone does. My mentality is that I have no fear, I will try to prove myself, and believe I am one of the best players in the world in my role.

“I know that I have to improve my shooting, but it is something I can do, it’s mainly about staying calm in that moment, so I’m working on it with the staff. I believe that I have the quality to score many goals.”

Liverpool are still looking to replace Mohamed Salah on the right flank – it remains to be seen if Barcola is seen as the solution there – and Conceicao could bring similar attributes to the Egyptian legend.

His preference for cutting inside onto his left foot makes him a real threat, and given his age, the Reds would be signing a player with his peak years still well ahead of him.

That said, the Portugal international is far from perfect and would need to work on his end product to even come close to Salah, having only bagged 11 goals and assists apiece in 82 appearances for Juve.
