Victor Wembanyama is preparing to bring several San Antonio Spurs teammates together in France ahead of the 2026-27 NBA season.
Spurs CEO R.C. Buford revealed that a group of players and coaches will travel to Paris to spend time and work with Wembanyama before training camp.
"Our coaches, our players are going to be here together next week doing some work… in Paris," Buford said during an appearance on TrashTalk. "They're coming over to see Victor, about 8 or 10."
The gathering should allow San Antonio's returning players and offseason additions to begin developing chemistry around Wembanyama well before the official start of camp.
Wembanyama is also preparing to represent France during a busy August schedule that includes exhibition games against Serbia and World Cup qualifiers against Slovenia and Sweden.
Wembanyama follows Luka Doncic's example
The Spurs' plan resembles the offseason initiative organized by Luka Doncic for the Los Angeles Lakers.
According to ESPN's Dave McMenamin, Doncic will host the entire Lakers roster in Slovenia for a four-day minicamp in August.
The itinerary is expected to include basketball workouts, golf, sightseeing around Ljubljana, and other team-bonding activities.
Los Angeles significantly reshaped its roster around Doncic following LeBron James' departure for the Philadelphia 76ers, adding Walker Kessler, Jaden Hardy, Quentin Grimes, Collin Sexton, Kevon Looney, Sandro Mamukelashvili, Ziaire Williams, and Matisse Thybulle.
The Slovenia gathering will give Doncic and head coach JJ Redick an early opportunity to integrate those additions alongside Austin Reaves, who remained with the Lakers on a new four-year contract.
Doncic previously paid for a Lakers team-building day at the Porsche Experience Center in Southern California in October 2025, where players tested different Porsche models following practice.
Now, Wembanyama appears ready to create a similar experience in his home country as the Spurs prepare for another title chase.
