The Portland Trail Blazers launched August with adding championship experience to their roster. Jeremy Sochan goes from celebrating the New York Knicks' title to heading west Saturday.
ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania revealed the new contract details handed to Sochan.
“Free agent forward Jeremy Sochan has agreed to a one-year deal to sign with the Portland Trail Blazers, agent Deirunas Visockas of Gersh Sports tells ESPN. Sochan — who has averaged 9.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.5 assists entering his fifth NBA season — finished 2025-26 on the championship Knicks,” Charania posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Sochan rose as a potential under-the-radar NBA Free Agency option. The Minnesota Timberwolves rose as one possibility just two days ago. ClutchPoints NBA insider Brett Siegel mentioned the Timberwolves “kicking the tires” for Sochan.

Sochan emerged as a fan favorite for the franchise that ended a 53-year title drought. He provided a huge front court spark alongside names like Karl-Anthony Towns and Game 4 hero OG Anunoby. Sochan even pulled a JR Smith-like stunt during the Knicks' parade: going shirtless down the road.
But he rises as the newest free agent addition for a team that's pulled off eye-grabbing moves. The biggest one involving landing Ja Morant via the Memphis Grizzlies back on June 29. Portland gained a two-time NBA All-Star and at one point, the game's best dunkers. Morant fell out of favor in Grind City, however, amid off-the-court issues involving gun possession along with clashing with coaches.
So now Morant and Sochan become two pivotal additions here and will join franchise legend Damian Lillard.
