Manchester United are 'investigating' a transfer for Arsenal star Myles Lewis-Skelly. The club are considering taking advantage of the Gunners' transfer position in order to convince them to part ways with their versatile youngster.
Lewis-Skelly struggled for playing time across much of last season but reaffirmed his importance to Mikel Arteta by starting the club's Champions League final defeat after helping the north London side over the line for the Premier League title.
After stretches out of the team, Lewis-Skelly previously drew interest from United and Michael Carrick's side could revisit a move this summer, according to the Independent. And Arsenal's transfer business could yet put them in a position to consider sanctioning his exit.
The Premier League champions prefer to keep Lewis-Skelly but if Arsenal seal big-money moves for Bruno Guimaraes and Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior. That significant spending will leave them hoping to balance the books effectively.
Arsenal may not look to actively sell Lewis-Skelly, with more favourable exits likely to be for players such as Reiss Nelson, Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli. Christian Norgaard already looks set to join Everton.
Lewis-Skelly would give Carrick a versatile option to help shore up two areas United are looking to improve. The club are still targeting a third midfielder after signing Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans, and would hope for greater depth at full-back with only Luke Shaw to call upon on the left.

United are also looking at a move for Newcastle United defender Lewis Hall. The former Chelsea youngster is said to be open to the prospect as the Magpies deal with losing Anthony Gordon, Sandro Tonali and, in all likelihood, Bruno Guimaraes this summer.
In May, Lewis-Skelly refused to be drawn on his Arsenal future as he focused on helping Arsenal win silverware. The 19-year-old explained how he shut out the noise when he was struggling to earn playing time last season.
"It was tough initially," he said. "But, for me, I pride myself on having mental strength. Sport is not one pathway, because there are ups and downs. And it’s how you bounce back from that, and how you are in those moments when you face adversity. That is what defines you.
"I spoke with my family and friends. I just told them: ‘I don’t want to hear all the noise that is coming from social media. Let me stay in this moment, let me continue to face this adversity and let me come out the other side of it’.
"For me, it is just always being prepared, always feeling like I prepare as a starter - because you never know when your time will come. Luckily enough for me, it came against Fulham. I feel like I took my opportunity and just helped the team out as much as I can."
