Lewis Hall goes public amid £70m Man United links to shut down Newcastle United nonsense

Lewis Hall hailed Eddie Howe on social media to rubbish any suggestions of a behind-the-scenes fallout.

Lewis Hall has opened up about the “true honour” of playing for Eddie Howe following his shock Newcastle United departure.

Howe signed Hall as an 18-year-old and nurtured him into a Premier League regular and England international. The left-back was arguably Newcastle’s best player in what was a disappointing 2025-26 campaign.

Amid reports linking him with a move to Old Trafford, sections of the Manchester United media have tried to unsettle Hall in recent weeks. It has been suggested that the youngster fell out with Howe towards the back end of the season.

Lewis Hall squashes Eddie Howe rubbish

NewcastleWorld understands this to be false, with the duo enjoying a strong relationship during their time at St James’ Park. There has also been no word from Toon sources that Hall will be allowed to leave this summer.

Like several of his Newcastle teammates, Hall thanked Howe once news of his departure was announced. He wrote: “A true honour to have played under you during your time here. Thank you will never be enough for everything you have done for me both on and off the pitch.”

Nick Woltemade reacts

Woltemade is another Toon star perceived from certain quarters to have been shunned under Howe. Again, it is understood that, on a personal level, the duo got along perfectly.

The German also bid farewell to Howe on social media - crediting the 48-year-old for bringing him to Newcastle. Woltemade wrote: “Thank you gaffer, for trusting me to join this great football club. I wish you all the best for the future. Also to the rest of the staff, thank you for your trust and support. You’re all great personalities and great people!”
