Manchester United manager Michael Carrick looks on vs West Ham
Manchester United have been linked with a move to sign Newcastle United defender Lewis Hall, but they are also eyeing an alternative who could be a better option.
Signing a left back does appear to be one of United's priorities in the remaining weeks of the transfer window.
United have Luke Shaw as their main option at left back, but the English defender is reaching the latter stages of his career and has endured fitness problems throughout his time at Old Trafford.
According to reports, Newcastle United's Lewis Hall is a major target for the Red Devils, with a move to secure his signature approved internally.
Patrick Dorgu is an alternative option to Shaw at left-back for Michael Carrick, but he has played further forward at times.

According to reports, Manchester United are showing an interest in signing Arsenal left-back Myles Lewis-Skelly in the summer transfer window.
There is a chance the English defender could be heading for the exit door this summer, especially if Bruno Guimaraes arrives from Newcastle.
Lewis-Skelly could be a better option for United than the likes of Hall for multiple reasons.
Although the Arsenal youngster has spent the majority of his time at the Gunners playing as a left back, he is also capable of playing in the middle of the park.
Man Utd are in the market for midfield additions, and this could kill two birds with one stone if they secure his signature.

Being two years younger than Hall, Lewis-Skelly also has more time on his side to develop into the player many expect him to be.
He has also experienced what it's like to be part of a winning culture after Arsenal won the Premier League title last season.
There will certainly be arguments that Hall is a better option than Lewis-Skelly, but taking everything into account does feel like the latter could be a smart deal.
With Arsenal having more options for both positions, there's a good chance that Lewis-Skelly, described as 'special' by Jurrien Timber, would be cheaper than Newcastle, who won't want to lose another high-profile player.
