Manchester United stadium plans enter public consultation
Manchester United’s proposed new 100,000-seat stadium has moved into another significant phase after the wider Old Trafford regeneration masterplan opened for public consultation.
The plans form the centrepiece of the proposed transformation of Trafford Wharfside, with supporters and local residents noion opened on 28 July and is scheduled to run until 22 September.
BBC Sport reports that members of the public have now been given their first opportunity to examine the emerging plans in greater detail, including through local exhibition sessions.

United intend to build a new 100,000-capacity ground around 350 metres north-west of the existing Old Trafford.
The stadium would sit at the heart of a much larger regeneration project which could eventually deliver around 15,000 homes and significant new employment across the area. The proposals also identify improved public transport infrastructure as an important part of the development.
ReadManUtd previously reported how United plan to avoid disrupting matches at Old Trafford while the new stadium is built proposed site deliberately separated from the existing ground. r concerns over heritage also remain an important part of the process.
United have previously acknowledged the significance of features including the Munich Clock and Old Trafford tunnel, while the future of the existing stadium has still not been finalised.
Feedback collected during the consultation will now help shape the next version of the wider masterplan.
United have already secured most of the land needed for their proposed new home, but considerable planning work remains before construction can begin.
The public consultation therefore represents another step forward rather than final approval for the project.
