Manchester United loanee Sekou Kone helped loan side Lausanne to an early season victory.
Sekou Kone is one of three Manchester United players currently out on loan, along with goalkeepers Andre Onana and Solomon Honor.
Kone has been thrust straight into action too, with the Swiss Super League season kicking off at the end of July.
After they opened with a 1-1 draw vs Zurich, Lausanne clinched their first win by defeating Basel 1-0 away from home.

Sekou Kone helps power Lausanne to win
Sekou Kone was selected on the substitute’s bench for the second game in a row. Despite being on loan from Ineos partner club Manchester United, he is being shown no preferential treatment.
Kone is being given opportunities. He played 21 minutes in their 1-1 draw against Zurich last week, and at the weekend he played 24 minutes against Basel.
The 20-year-old maximised his impact, coming off the bench with the game at 0-0. He was a driving force for Lausanne as they went on to win 1-0 with a goal in stoppage time from French winger Florent Mollet.
Kone helped Lausanne to protect the defence and was also keen to get forward, showing an attacking intent in possession.

Former Manchester United defender Tyler Fredricson was an unused substitute. He clinched his permanent move to Lausanne in midweek and was in the matchday squad for the first time.

Ineos prepared Kone for success
Even though Sekou Kone’s loan move to Lausanne was only formally announced shortly before their first league game, the midfielder had been training with the team since the start of the month.
Kone reported for pre-season with Lausanne with a view to earning a season-long loan deal.
He spent the second half of the 2025/26 season on loan at Lausanne, but found it tricky to adjust arriving midway through the campaign, making only five league appearances.
Kone needs some consistency in his career to get it up and running, and keeping him at Lausanne was a sensible move.
It won’t be long before he is starting games for the Swiss side. His latest substitute display could be the springboard.
