Former Chelsea defender William Gallas believes it is all but inevitable that Cole Palmer will join Manchester United - but only after he's had 'one more big season'. Palmer moved to Stamford Bridge from Manchester City in 2023 in a £42.5m deal.
Despite spending 13 years at the Etihad, Palmer is a boyhood United fan. Claims emerged earlier this year that the England international was homesick and the Reds were keen to lure him to Old Trafford.
But Palmer later claimed there is no truth in links to United or that he is homesick in London. However, that hasn't stopped Gallas from claiming that if Palmer has another impressive campaign at Stamford Bridge, a move to United would likely follow.
“I don’t think Cole Palmer will go right now. I don’t think it’s time to go right now,” the former France international told iPredicta.
“He will definitely go to Manchester United in the future if he’s a big fan, if he’s got a dream to play for Man United, he will definitely go there, but right now I don’t think so.
“I think he needs to have one more big season as he did two years ago, before he got his injury problem, then he might move.”
Gallas’ claim comes after United new boy Andrey Santos revealed he received a message from Palmer upon finalising his move to Old Trafford.

The Brazilian has signed a five-year contract, with United paying an initial £48 million fee, with £2 million in add-ons to Chelsea.
Santos was keen to move on from Stamford Bridge as he searched for more regular game time and he revealed: "I'm so excited to be here.
“So pleased. I got a message from Cole [Palmer], he sent a message because he was born here [Manchester], so he knows everything here.
“He said all the best for you, for your career, you deserve this, a lot of things. So I'm so excited to be here in Manchester with my new teammates."
