After LeBron James chose his new team, the path for DeMar DeRozan to sign a new contract has appeared. However, the veteran forward is yet to find a new club.
Many teams have been named as potential destinations for DeRozan, who can still provide elite scoring and veteran leadership to a contending team.
Recently, the 36-year-old shared a tweet, where he said:
"In closing, I remain the same. I come as I leave…"
While the post hints that he could return to finish his career to the Toronto Raptors, who drafted him and where DeMar spent his first nine seasons, right now, it is only speculation.
Six-time All-Star searching for first championship
The Toronto Raptors selected DeRozan with the No. 9 overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft.
He spent his first nine seasons in Toronto before being traded to the San Antonio Spurs in the 2018 deal that sent Kawhi Leonard to the Raptors.
DeRozan played three seasons in San Antonio and another three with the Chicago Bulls before joining the Sacramento Kings through a sign-and-trade in 2024. He is a six-time All-Star and three-time All-NBA selection.
Despite his long list of individual accomplishments, DeRozan has yet to win an NBA title or reach the NBA Finals.
