Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesko is reportedly attracting interest from Bayern Munich this summer. Sesko is currently preparing for his second season with United after moving to Old Trafford from RB Leipzig just 12 months ago.
The Slovenia international enjoyed a solid debut season for United, scoring 12 goals across all competitions, including 11 in the Premier League.
Sesko had an upturn in form following the arrival of Michael Carrick as the club’s new manager, and will now be expected to lead the line again for United this forthcoming season.
However, Sport Bild reporter Christian Falk has claimed that Bayern Munich are now starting plans for life after Harry Kane eventually leaves the club - with Sekso on their shortlist.
Falk has told CFBayern Insider that Bayern are looking to sign a striker who could fulfil a role when Kane has to have a deeper role, with the Bundesliga giants already signing Ismael Saibari from PSV Eindhoven.
It has been reported that Bayern are still admirers of Sesko, having previously expressed an interest in the 23-year-old during his time with Leipzig two years ago.
It remains to be seen if Bayern will go on to express an interest in signing Sesko this summer, although it’s been hinted that this may be unlikely due to the arrival of Saibari at the start of the window.
Sesko missed the final weeks of last season with a shin injury that forced him to be absent from United’s final four Premier League fixtures of the season.
The striker has also not been part of United’s matchday squads for their pre-season friendlies over the last couple of weeks, and has instead been working on his fitness at the club’s training base, Carrington.
Last month, Sesko posted several photos of himself during a training session at Carrington, with the striker writing the caption: “Getting there.”
It remains to be seen when Sesko will feature on the pitch for United again, with the Red Devils having pre-season friendlies against Paris Saint-Germain, Leeds United and AC Milan over the next couple of weeks.
That will all be the build-up to United’s Premier League opener against Hull City on August 22 at the MKM Stadium.
