We are less than three weeks away until the new Premier League season kicks off and Manchester United are expected to be right in the mix for a top-four finish under Michael Carrick.
But, what do the Red Devils still need to do in the transfer window to balance their domestic ambitions with extra games in the Champions League?

Business already done
The Old Trafford hierarchy caught us all off guard by swooping for Aston Villa ace Youri Tielemans.
In activating the Belgian’s bargain £35million release clause, United have landed themselves a proven Premier League performer who should excel in the heart of their midfield.
They have also paid Chelsea £50million for Andrey Santos, who performed well in Ligue 1 with Strasbourg last season and has already caught the eye during pre-season with a number of impressive performances.
The only other first-team arrival so far is goalkeeper Karl Darlow, who will be back up for number one Senne Lammens and also helps with the club’s homegrown quota.
Even with the additions of Tielemans and Santos, United still look light in midfield following Casemiro’s departure to Inter Miami on a free transfer.
Manuel Ugarte is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a serious knee injury playing for Uruguay at the World Cup.
The plan was for Ugarte to be sold for around £25million so his absence is more of a blow for the bookkeepers than for Carrick himself.
Mason Mount could be utilised in a deeper midfield role, but he is never too far away from his next injury and neither Tielemans nor Santos are really like-for-like replacements for fan-favourite Casemiro.

United are also assessing their left-side options, knowing Luke Shaw will struggle to play three games a week.
Carrick would love to add another forward player to his ranks, which may allow Joshua Zirkzee to be sold.

If they can find a club to take £325,000-a-week Marcus Rashford off their hands then another winger would become a priority.

Carlos Baleba
The Brighton midfielder has been on the Red Devils’ radar for the past couple of transfer windows and fits the Casemiro profile.
The Cameroon international would bring legs to the engine room, but Brighton would push for a fee in excess of £75million.
Tyler Adams
Another Premier League-ready option who had a decent World Cup for hosts USA.

Bournemouth sources have scoffed at suggestions they would be willing to sell for £35million.
United have moved on from Adams’ teammate Alex Scott due to Bournemouth’s asking price of £80million to £100million.
Aurelien Tchouameni
Tchouameni is a name near the top of United’s summer shopping list and there was encouragement earlier in the summer that Real Madrid are open to a sale.
There is talk he has since agreed a new contract though it seems that is still to be signed, leaving the door ajar.
Eduardo Camavinga
talkSPORT understands Tchouameni’s club-mate Camavinga has been offered via intermediaries to several top Premier League clubs including United.
He would not come cheap and his injury record since joining Real has to be a concern for any potential suitor.

Lewis Hall
talkSPORT first reported in the spring that Hall was a top target for United and that the Newcastle left-back would be open to the move.
The departure of Eddie Howe from St James Park may make negotiations easier seeing as the pair share the same agent.
An offer in the region of £60million would test Newcastle’s resolve to keep Hall.
Myles Lewis-Skelly
Lewis-Skelly is another player United have been tracking for some time and he can play in both midfield and at left-back.
That versatility appeals to United minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and while Arsenal would be reluctant sellers, a move for their academy graduate has not been dismissed out of hand.
Iliman Ndiaye
Everton’s star man from last season is another player who can play in a variety of positions, either on the left, as a 10 or even as a No. 9 if needed.

The Toffees are asking for £75million, which may be a bit rich for United and he also has a lucrative offer from Saudi side Al Hilal.
Ismaila Sarr
Sarr put himself in contention to replace Rashford by bagging an impressive 21 goals in 45 games for Conference League winners Crystal Palace last season.
The Eagles ideally would like to hang onto their star man but a sizable offer would give chairman Steve Parish a decision to make.
