Carrington is about to witness an exodus of young players, as Manchester United look to offload some of their academy products, including Toby Collyer.
Although Michael Carrick appears willing to hand first-team opportunities to some of his most promising youngsters, there is only so much room among the seniors.
Recent reports identified Tyler Fletcher and Shea Lacey as the most likely youngsters to stay with the first team for the 2026/27 season, while many others will inevitably head towards the exit door.
Toby Collyer, Dan Gore & Chido Obi lead Man United exodus
On Monday, The Sun journalist Samuel Luckhurst named four young Man Utd players who appear destined to leave Carrington this summer, whether on permanent or temporary deals.
The source believes Collyer is the first name on the chopping block. The Worthing native made his debut under Erik ten Hag, and at one point during the 2024/25 campaign, overtook Casemiro in Ruben Amorim’s pecking order.
But after two injury-riddled loan experiences at West Brom and Hull City last season, the midfielder now finds himself at the bottom of the hierarchy. And at the age of 22, it is time for him to leave the nest for good.

Hence, Luckhurst expects Man Utd to sell Collyer outright, and the same applies to Dan Gore (21), another midfielder who has outgrown the youth ranks and won’t find space in the senior squad.
On the other hand, 18-year-old striker Chido Obi is tipped to leave the club on loan. The Danish centre-forward made his senior debut in the 2024/25 season, but didn’t make a first-team appearance last term.

In addition to the three players mentioned by Luckhurst, several reliable sources (including The Athletic) revealed last week that Harry Amass could be sold this summer, with Man Utd setting their asking price at £6 million.
The left-back is considered among the most promising teenagers at the club. Last season, he managed to impress at Sheffield Wednesday until January before moving to Norwich City, where his experience was hampered by a serious injury.
Amass has been delivering positive cameos in pre-season, but he’s expected to make way for a more accomplished left-back.
