Manchester United have a series of decisions to make regarding the Fletcher twins.
Darren Fletcher’s twin sons Jack Fletcher and Tyler Fletcher both made their debuts for Manchester United during the 2025/26 season.
Both players have been involved during the team’s first three pre-season games, and manager Michael Carrick has a decision to make.
Carrick must choose whether to keep Jack Fletcher with the squad or send him on loan, likewise with Tyler Fletcher.
Does Carrick send one out and not the other? Should United let both players gain experience, or keep them both around?
There is certainly an argument that each player would be better served to head out on loan and play regular football, but Carrick also has to do what is best for Manchester United right now.
The case to keep both players is the impressive squad depth that would be created by doing so.

Michael Carrick made an immediate impact when he took over as manager in January 2026, leading the club to secure a third-place finish.
If there was one criticism, it was that United’s performances dropped when the team played midweek games and were forced to rotate.
Squad depth is going to be vitally important to United in 2026/27 if Michael Carrick’s side are going to be able to compete in all competitions.
Crucially, Manchester United do not need to register Tyler or Jack Fletcher in the Premier League squad or the main Champions League squad due to their age, with both players 19.
Tyler Fletcher can add vital depth in central midfield, and is ready for the step up, recently being called into the Scotland squad for the World Cup.
Jack Fletcher can play in multiple positions, in central midfield, attacking midfield or on the wing. He even had a spell at left-back in the academy, so could fill in for an emergency.
Having the pair available is vital insurance for Carrick, especially with injuries and fatigue set to bite in a long season that will have a minimum of 48 games for United, and a maximum of 66.

Midfield departures will help Fletcher twins
Despite some early promise, it appears Dan Gore and Toby Collyer will both be departing the club this summer.
Gore and Collyer were both sent down to the under-21s at the weekend, instead of being named in the squad who faced Atletico Madrid. United are expected to try and sell both players for a small fee.
Jacob Devaney is also expected to leave United on loan, while Sekou Kone is also out on loan.
United will need to keep some academy options in midfield and the Fletcher twins are ready to make the step up, and fill vital roles wherever required.
