Supporters of La Liga giants Real Madrid have early this week been afforded a long-awaited update on the club’s ongoing pursuit of RB Leipzig star Yan Diomandé.

The news, though, is far from what those of a Blancos persuasion would have been hoping for. This comes amid confirmation that a definitive agreement over the terms of the transfer is yet to be found with Leipzig.

Young winger Diomandé has of course taken his place centre stage in the media headlines surrounding Real Madrid for several weeks now, after the brass at the Santiago Bernabéu made the call to go all-in on their pursuit of his signature.

It was recently reported that talks between the Spanish and German clubs had culminated in an accord, with the 19-year-old therefore set to be officially unveiled as the latest addition to José Mourinho’s squad at any moment.

Any such statement, however, has since not been forthcoming…

And as alluded to above, on Monday, an insight into precisely why has surfaced online. Speaking during an appearance in front of the media this afternoon, RB Leipzig director Marcel Schäfer explained:

“The deal is not done. That’s simply not the case. We’re not at that stage yet.”

🚨🆕 RB Leipzig have officially confirmed for the first time that there is no agreement with Real Madrid for Yan Diomande.

A breakthrough is not expected today.
